There will be an open meeting for those concerned about the current issues with Carmarthenshire’s archives, museums and heritage at the Ivy Bush Hotel, Carmarthen, on Monday September 28th, between 7 and 9 PM. For those not able to get there, I hope to be able to provide a detailed report on this site as soon as possible after the event.

Good timing! I will inform the committee members of the Friends of Carmarthenshire Archives this week and rally the forces.
I think I still have a combat jacket somewhere!!
please give my apologies. Maureen Patch
…but thanks for info
Hi David,
Have you been told – by either archive staff or senior managers of the whereabouts of specific archives? I was given cagey answers when I asked re the Cawdor archive. I assume it is still at Carmarthen, since I contacted Glamorgan RO and it has not been transferred there. I think that the same will apply to the Stepney archive. Only volumes have been transferred…probably poor law volumes since those were the most affected by mould. However, if the Cawdor, Stepney and other archives are still at Carmarthen…why aren’t they available to researchers! They are stored in a part of the strong room where mould was not found (unless it had been discovered since I left). The whole fiasco just about sums up the (deliberate?) awkwardness of the Council.
See you on the 28th
Regards,

Hi John, will drop you a note by email. Best, David
Aren’t you clashing with the Welsh Guards at St Peters?
Sorry, didn’t know about that, but I haven’t organised the meeting, and am simply publishing the details I’ve been given. I’ll contact the people who did organise it.
